I see you? - Predicting who will require intensive care

چکیده
Background Delayed transfer to the intensive care unit (ICU) is correlated with higher morbidity and mortality in emergency department (ED) patients. If it is possible to identify patients at risk of transfer to the ICU shortly after arrival to the ED, early goal-directed therapy could theoretically reduce the incidence of ICU transfer and improve outcome for the critically ill. No widely used scoring system exists for identifying these patients in the heterogeneous population of the ED. The aim of this study was to identify possible predictors obtainable on admission for ICU therapy.

Background & Aims: Recent studies have shown that thrombocytopenia (TP) is associated with poor outcomes in patients with pneumonia, burns, and H1N1 influenza. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of platelet count trends and TP on mortality in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Materials & Methods: TP was defined as <150,000 platelets/ml. In this study, 300 patients who had been ...

Still, I am not sure I really see any difference in the effectiveness of methadone today compared to 10 years ago. I think you have one-third of people who will benefit, stay on me...

Background About 40 to 60% of all patients admitted to pediatric intensive care unitsundergo mechanical ventilation and 10 to 20% will fail to be extubated. We aimed to determine the role of the rapid shallow breathing index (RSBI) in predicting successful weaning of pediatric patients with respiratory failure. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study, was performed on 72 mechanical...
